Christine Collister & Dave Kelly

Dave Kelly is a founding member of The Blues Band, who have just started their 40th Anniversary Tour, and a stalwart of the British Blues Scene. Dave cut his teeth in the backing bands of Howlin Wolf and John Lee Hooker as well as playing with Buddy Guy, Son House & Muddy Waters. The Blues Band have released over 20 albums, and Dave has 15 either solo or with his own Dave Kelly Band.

Christine Collister came to prominence originally in the UK folk scene in the eighties, singing the title song for the BBC drama series Life & Loves Of A She Devil. She was in Richard Thompson’s touring Band 85’-’88 as vocalist and acoustic guitarist. 1984-’90 saw 5 acclaimed albums with Clive Gregson with many, varied and successful collaborations since, including: Daphne’s Flight; Hell Bent Heaven Bound; Wild Honey Orchestra; Iain Matthews; Loudon Wainwright III; as well as solo and duo work with a further 15 albums and counting!

Christine & Dave started their working relationship when they recorded a session for The Paul Jones Radio Two show in 1994. A fan gave Dave a copy of that recording, which Dave thought sounded great and so forwarded a copy to Christine. They decided to get together again and have never looked back!

Their material is taken from both their musical backgrounds, but mainly covering songs which they both love but have not previously had an opportunity to perform, within their usual formats. Some soul standards, country songs, rock, folk & blues, Stax, Tamla, The Band, Emmylou Harris, The Everly Brothers, Elvis, ( to name but a few) as well as some great contemporary writers and of course, their own songs.
