For someone so instantly recognized as a rock guitar icon in his own right, Mick Ralphs has never really shown the public the influences on his playing. That is until now….….that is until he was able to form The Mick Ralphs Blues Band. Mick’s heroes – Steve Cropper, Freddie King, all loved playing in clubs and Mick needed to get back there too. In 2011, between Mott The Hoople and Bad Company tours, Mick found himself at the legendary Nags Head music venue in High Wycombe. Joining the house band on stage for a few numbers, Mick did what he’s always done…played tasty, economical guitar solos with his trusty Les Paul, to the gathered crowd. It’s what he’s always done…what he’s renowned for….

From small acorns…..grew The Mick Ralphs Blues Band. Not formed just to trade on a name. Not formed just to play a set of classic tunes by one of its members (lest we forget Mr Ralphs is STILL a member of Mott AND Bad Co.). This band was formed out of a respect for a genre of music that has influenced all its members. Of course the band tip their hat to a few of those solid gold tunes but the band has its own identity, its own feel.

Most fans have seen Mick Ralphs at a distance. In stadiums around the world. In huge venues where he is part of that elite “Rock Star” club. With his latest project, Mick gets back to his roots. You won’t see banks of Marshalls; you’ll see a beautifully battered and beaten combo. You’ll see a guitar great up close and personal, coaxing notes from his guitar, with passion, with love but still with a glimmer of fun in his eye…
